DAVID SUZUKI SPEAKS ABOUT OVER POPULATION

David Suzuki speaks about overpopulation. It is time to stop having more than 2 kids. Every person is responsible and the fate of the Earth depends on our individual decisions about the size of our families.

DO WOMEN HAVE THE RIGHT OF FREE CHOICE? CAN THEY TAKE BIRTH CONTROL?

Do Women Have The Right Of Free Choice (Pro Choice)? Do Women Control Their Own Bodies? Anti Abortion Violence Defined As Terrorism

The church position advocating for making all birth control illegal and to keep having large families into the infinite future is insane, on a planet that has already been overpopulated by 2 to 3 times, for the amount of resources available.

TED TURNER ON OVER POPULATION

Ted Turner puts it another way.. He says very simply that humans on a global basis, use too much stuff. The stuff we are using such as carbon fuels is causing a huge increase in pollution, carbon dioxide concentrations in the air and oceans, plus many other problems.

We can reduce the human population drastically and voluntarily through birth control, by deciding on our own not to have more than 2 children in a lifetime. If we keep on having large numbers of children, Nature's consequences will do the population control for us forcibly, as David Suzuki points out. Agenda 21 is not needed.

POVERTY AS A DIRECT CAUSE OF OVER POPULATION, WAR AND TERRORISM

Poverty is one of the direct causes of over population. Very poor people have as many children as possible, because they see children as their only way of being taken care of in old age.

Having more children also is a way of getting a chance of getting out of poverty, because who knows, maybe one of the kids will end up getting lucky and striking it rich.

But extreme poverty also has the reverse result of increasing violence, crime and war, especially when poor people with no hope or education are then concentrated into large cities.

When people don't have enough to eat, it leads directly to social unrest, crime and then revolution plus war.

The direct result of war is that the 1 percent are enriched, because war is very profitable, while also being very expensive. The money spent on war and weapons also causes more poverty, disease, suffering and environmental destruction.

Central bankers get involved in war, because war is not affordable without huge amounts of financing and debt. Central banks increase fiat currencies, which then lead to fraud, corruption and more income disparity, because fiat currencies lead to increasing the wealth of the 1 percent.

Because the 1 percent generally have only their own interests at heart, they act in a selfish, ego based, violent manner, thus creating FASCISM. Fascism in turn creates wars, which end up destroying humanity and the world.

Poor people are the ones who end up dying in war, not the 1 percent. Because the 1 percent blame the 99 percent for all social ills, it is the 99 percent who must transfer all of their wealth and assets to the 1 percent, who end up owning mostly everything and everyone, either through debt, via slavery, or servitude of various kinds.

The war on drugs is one example of how the 1 percent end up owning or controlling everything and the 99 percent end up working as slaves in for profit prisons for the 1 percent.

WORLD CARRYING CAPACITY HAS BEEN EXCEEDED BY 300 PERCENT OR MORE, EVERY CHILD BORN BEYOND 2 PER COUPLE ARE AN ADDITIONAL UNSUSTAINABLE LOAD ON MOTHER EARTH

Wikipedia; "Some groups (for example, the World Wide Fund for Nature[83][84] and Global Footprint Network) have stated that the carrying capacity for the human population has been exceeded as measured using the Ecological Footprint

In 2006, WWF's "Living Planet Report" stated that in order for all humans to live with the current consumption patterns of Europeans, we would be spending three times more than what the planet can renew.[85]

Humanity as a whole was using, by 2006, 40 percent more than what Earth can regenerate.[86] However, Roger Martin of Population Matters states the view: "the poor want to get rich, and I want them to get rich," with a later addition, "of course we have to change consumption habits,... but we've also got to stabilise our numbers".[87]

In a 1994 study titled Food, Land, Population and the U.S. Economy, David Pimentel and Mario Giampietro estimated the maximum U.S. population for a sustainable economy at 200 million.[93] And in order to achieve a sustainable economy and avert disaster, the United States would have to reduce its population by at least one-third, and world population would have to be reduced by two-thirds.[94]

Many quantitative studies have estimated the world's carrying capacity for humans, that is, a limit to the world population.[95] A meta-analysis of 69 such studies suggests a point estimate of the limit to be 7.7 billion people, while lower and upper meta-bounds for current technology are estimated as 0.65 and 98 billion people, respectively. They conclude: "recent predictions of stabilized world population levels for 2050 exceed several of our meta-estimates of a world population limit".[96]

Raw numbers of people are only one factor in the effects of people. The lifestyle (including overall affluence and resource utilization) and the pollution (including carbon footprint) are equally important. In 2008 the New York Times stated that the inhabitants of the developed nations of the world consume resources like oil and metals at a rate almost 32 times greater than those of the developing world, who make up the majority of the human population.[97]

Some problems associated with or exacerbated by human overpopulation and over-consumption are:
Inadequate fresh water[98] for drinking as well as sewage treatment and effluent discharge. Some countries, like Saudi Arabia, use energy-expensive desalination to solve the problem of water shortages.[99][100]

Depletion of natural resources, especially fossil fuels.[101]

World energy consumption predictions, 1970–2025.

Increased levels of air pollution, water pollution, soil contamination and noise pollution. Once a country has industrialized and become wealthy, a combination of government regulation and technological innovation causes pollution to decline substantially, even as the population continues to grow.[102]

Deforestation and loss of ecosystems[103] that valuably contribute to the global atmospheric oxygen and carbon dioxide balance; about eight million hectares of forest are lost each year.[104]

Changes in atmospheric composition and consequent global warming.[105][106]

Loss of arable land and increase in desertification.[107] Deforestation and desertification can be reversed by adopting property rights, and this policy is successful even while the human population continues to grow.[108]

Mass species extinctions[109] from reduced habitat in tropical forests due to slash-and-burn techniques that sometimes are practiced by shifting cultivators, especially in countries with rapidly expanding rural populations; present extinction rates may be as high as 140,000 species lost per year.[110] As of February 2011, the IUCN Red List lists a total of 801 animal species having gone extinct during recorded human history.[111]

High infant and child mortality.[112] High rates of infant mortality are associated with poverty. Rich countries with high population densities have low rates of infant mortality.[113]

Intensive factory farming to support large populations. It results in human threats including the evolution and spread of antibiotic resistant bacteria diseases, excessive air and water pollution, and new viruses that infect humans.

A child suffering extreme malnutrition in India, 1972

Increased chance of the emergence of new epidemics and pandemics.[114] For many environmental and social reasons, including overcrowded living conditions, malnutrition and inadequate, inaccessible, or non-existent health care, the poor are more likely to be exposed to infectious diseases.[115]

Starvation, malnutrition[116] or poor diet with ill health and diet-deficiency diseases (e.g. rickets). However, rich countries with high population densities do not have famine.[117]

Poverty coupled with inflation in some regions and a resulting low level of capital formation. Poverty and inflation are aggravated by bad government and bad economic policies. Many countries with high population densities have eliminated absolute poverty and keep their inflation rates very low.[118]

Low life expectancy in countries with fastest growing populations.[119]

Unhygienic living conditions for many based upon water resource depletion, discharge of raw sewage[120] and solid waste disposal. However, this problem can be reduced with the adoption of sewers. For example, after Karachi, Pakistan installed sewers, its infant mortality rate fell substantially.[121]

Elevated crime rate due to drug cartels and increased theft by people stealing resources to survive.[122]

Conflict over scarce resources and crowding, leading to increased levels of warfare.[123]

Less personal freedom and more restrictive laws. Laws regulate interactions between humans. Law "serves as a primary social mediator of relations between people". The higher the population density, the more frequent such interactions become, and thus there develops a need for more laws and/or more restrictive laws to regulate these interactions. It was even speculated by Aldous Huxley in 1958 that democracy is threatened due to overpopulation, and could give rise to totalitarian style governments.[124]

David Attenborough described the level of human population on the planet as a multiplier of all other environmental problems.[125]

Many of these problems are explored in the dystopic science fiction film Soylent Green, where an overpopulated Earth suffers from food shortages, depleted resources and poverty and in the documentary "Aftermath: Population Overload".

Some economists, such as Thomas Sowell[126] and Walter E. Williams[117] argue that third world poverty and famine are caused in part by bad government and bad economic policies. Most biologists and sociologists see overpopulation as a serious threat to the quality of human life.[103][127]

Overpopulation has substantially adversely impacted the environment of Earth starting at least as early as the 20th century.[127]According to the Global Footprint Network, "today humanity uses the equivalent of 1.5 planets to provide the resources we use and absorb our waste".[237] There are also economic consequences of this environmental degradation in the form of ecosystem servicesattrition.[238]

Beyond the scientifically verifiable harm to the environment, some assert the moral right of other species to simply exist rather than become extinct. Environmental author Jeremy Rifkin has said that "our burgeoning population and urban way of life have been purchased at the expense of vast ecosystems and habitats. ... It's no accident that as we celebrate the urbanization of the world, we are quickly approaching another historic watershed: the disappearance of the wild."[239]

Says Peter Raven, former President of the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) in their seminal work AAAS Atlas of Population & Environment, "Where do we stand in our efforts to achieve a sustainable world? Clearly, the past half century has been a traumatic one, as the collective impact of human numbers, affluence (consumption per individual) and our choices of technology continue to exploit rapidly an increasing proportion of the world's resources at an unsustainable rate. ...

During a remarkably short period of time, we have lost a quarter of the world's topsoil and a fifth of its agricultural land, altered the composition of the atmosphere profoundly, and destroyed a major proportion of our forests and other natural habitats without replacing them. Worst of all, we have driven the rate of biological extinction, the permanent loss of species, up several hundred times beyond its historical levels, and are threatened with the loss of a majority of all species by the end of the 21st century."

Traffic congestion in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam

Further, even in countries which have both large population growth and major ecological problems, it is not necessarily true that curbing the population growth will make a major contribution towards resolving all environmental problems.[240] However, as developing countries with high populations become more industrialized, pollution and consumption will invariably increase.

The Worldwatch Institute said in 2006 that the booming economies of China and India are "planetary powers that are shaping the global biosphere". The report states:

The world's ecological capacity is simply insufficient to satisfy the ambitions of China, India, Japan, Europe and the United States as well as the aspirations of the rest of the world in a sustainable way.[241]

It said that if China and India were to consume as much resources per capita as the United States, in 2030 they would each require a full planet Earth to meet their needs.[242] In the long term these effects can lead to increased conflict over dwindling resources[243] and in the worst case a Malthusian catastrophe.

Many studies link population growth with emissions and the effect of climate change.[244][245]

Warfare and conflict

“ excessive growth may reduce output per worker, repress levels of living for the masses and engender strife. Confucius(551 – 479 BC)[246]

“ Overpopulation in various countries has become a serious threat to the health of people and a grave obstacle to any attempt to organize peace on this planet. Albert Einstein – physicist 1879 – 1955[247]

It has been suggested[248] that overpopulation leads to increased levels of tensions both between and within countries. Modern usage of the term "lebensraum" supports the idea that overpopulation may promote warfare through fear of resource scarcity and increasing numbers of youth lacking the opportunity to engage in peaceful employment (the youth bulge theory).

1 PERCENT ARE DESTROYING THE WORLD VIA MILITARISM, CAPITALISM AND RACISM

The three evils according to MLK are racism, militarism and capitalism. President Donald Trump symbolizes all three evils concentrated into one super concentrated dose, with nothing else added in.

IS THE WORLD HEADED FOR A MALTHUSIAN CATASTROPHE?

President Trump has declared that the worst problem being faced by the world and the US is 'terrorism'. But terrorism has it's roots in extreme poverty, lack of education and lack of hope. But rather than focus on solving these root causes, President Trump is spending huge amounts of money transferring money from feeding children and increasing hope into arming the military with even more and bigger weapons.

Trump's policy and ideology will help the 1 percent, but it will hurt the 99 percent, and it will also hurt people all around the world, as the US withdraws from the UN and many international social programs designed to alleviate suffering and poverty.

U.S. Senator Bernie Sanders Democracy is when ordinary people stand up, fight back and create a government which works for all — not just the 1%. Oligarchy is when Trump appoints billionaires to run the government and when policies are pushed which make the very rich even richer. If you can believe it, the top 25 hedge fund managers made more in 2015 than the combined salaries of every kindergarten teacher in America, while paying a lower tax rate than most truck drivers or nurses. We have got to transform our priorities as a nation. We have to stand up and fight back.

Wikipedia; "A Malthusian catastrophe (also known as Malthusian check or Malthusian spectre) is a prediction of a forced return to subsistence-level conditions once population growth has outpaced agricultural production.

In 1779, Thomas Malthus wrote:

Famine seems to be the last, the most dreadful resource of nature. The power of population is so superior to the power of the earth to produce subsistence for man, that premature death must in some shape or other visit the human race. The vices of mankind are active and able ministers of depopulation. They are the precursors in the great army of destruction, and often finish the dreadful work themselves. But should they fail in this war of extermination, sickly seasons, epidemics, pestilence, and plague advance in terrific array, and sweep off their thousands and tens of thousands. Should success be still incomplete, gigantic inevitable famine stalks in the rear, and with one mighty blow levels the population with the food of the world.
— Thomas Malthus, 1798. An Essay on the Principle of Population. Chapter VII, p61[1]
