Beauty Haul and Review

Hey guys,

As promised, I'm here today with a beauty haul. It took me forever to get round to doing it because I've been so busy. I've had two friends stay with me for two weeks (one of them is still here) so we've been doing lots of stuff like going to the Blackpool, Southport and socialising with alcohol. Also I'm going away tomorrow to Poland so I've been planning my outfits, packing and trying to plan out my activities for when I'm there. Now that you know why this post is so late, let's jump into it.

Firstly, I repurchased my favourite mascara which is the NYC BIG BOLD in Extra Black. It does what it does on the box which is giving the effect of big, bold lashes aka thick and long. It's simply fantastic so I had to get it as soon as I run out .

I also repurchased the RIMMEL STAY MATTE powder in Translucent. It is the best matifying powder that I've found as it keeps my skin matte and  when I reapply it roughly half way through the day it doesn't make my face overly powered or cakey.
I also picked up this EYEBROW SHAPING KIT from MAKEUP REVOLUTION in  Dark. I think this product is even better for shaping my eyebrows than the ELF EYEBROW KIT in Dark since the colour is a lot cooler and you have a choice between 3 shades so you can make it match your eyebrows perfectly and make it look more natural since you can you a variation of tones instead of just one which would give a less dimensional effect. The only downside of this cheap beauty is that after a couple to a few weeks of using this kit I already hit pan on the wax whereas the ELF eyebrow wax lasted me for a year.

An another repurchase was the MAKEUP REVOLUTION CONCEALER in Fair. It's just a really nice medium coverage concealer. It covers spots and acne scars well and mild undereye dark circles too (emphasis on mild) Not much to say about it really apart from that really.

This purchase was a definitive miss. It was the MAKEUP REVOLUTION  PRESSED POWDER in Translucent. Let me start off by saying that it is anything but translucent. It is orange. Just orange. It was also cakey and it did not make my skin matte for a very long. What I mean by that is that my face was shiny within an hour within application. I would definitively not recommend this product.
Another miss product of this haul was the REVLON  COLOURBURT MATTE BALM in the colour 205. I bought it after hearing all the hype around it on youtube and the blogosphere. Unfortunately this product was a complete flop for me. First of all I do not enjoy it's smell and taste which is very minty, like toothpaste. It's just not my thing whatsoever. The next thing that I disliked about it was how it just sank into every single lip line on my mouth. It was just awful. My lips are well looked after as I apply lip balm on  them at least every morning and don't chew on them so I'd figured they're not completely made of flaws. This lipstick (?) just empathised that it is otherwise. I could get past these two downsides of this product if it wasn't for the last two. It is very short lasting as in it comes off after minutes of me putting it on without any effort on my behalf like eating or drinking. To make matters worse it comes off in the most horrible way possible i.e. it comes off in the middle, but not in the cracks and it leaves an unremovable line around the edges of my lips. It is not a flattering look, trust me. So to conclude, I would not recommend this product cos it effing sucks.

To cheer things up a bit, here' s a product that turned out to be great. It's the COLLECTION EXTREME EYELINER in Black (or extra balck, not too sure now). The tip of this penliner is thin enough to be precise but thick enough to not be flimsy. It's easy to use and to create thin or thick lines. The colour comes out a true b lack and it's stays like that all day without creasing or fading.

Ooooopppppsss, another repurchase. I may have not ran out of this just yet but I thought since I was ordering stuff from the MAKEUP   REVOLUTION website I figyred I'd stock up on the MAKEUP REVOLUTION THE ONE FOUNDATION in Shade 3. A review is available from here

The penultimate item that I bought was the MAKEUP REVOLUTION PARENTAL ADVISORY EXPLICIT CONTENT palette. This palette includes 32 shades that vary from matte, to pearl to shimmery finishes. Most of the colours are neutral but there are some more pinky/reddy shades and some blues to make this palette stand out from the other. Another thing about it that stands out is that the front of the packaging changes colours as you turn the angle you hold it at from plain to splashy.
When I was purchasing this product I had very high hopes for it. Not all of my expectations were however met. To start of on a good note, the shimmery colours are beautifully pigmented. especially the silver and champagne colours from the top row that are next to each other. The mattes however are sort of poo. They're badly pigmented, chalky and extremely hard to blend. The same goes for the blues that I had such high hopes for. I think for the same price of £8 the next palette is a lot better.

The last thing that I bought was the FLAWLESS 32 SHADE palette from MAKEUP REVOLUTION. You can tell that I'm completely in love with it just by the fact that it was featured in my June and July favourites (here).
The palette is made from 32 neutral matte to shimmery shades. All are nicely pigmented, non-chalky and incredibly easy to blame. If you're looking for a very versatile neutral palette that is affordable I recommend you try this one. It's an 11 out of 10 for me ;)

I hope you guys enjoyed this post and I'll see you in my next one.
