Nene Leakes has a famously tough exterior, but revealed in June 2018 that Gregg Leakes was suffering from stage 3 colon cancer. Gregg and Nene married in 1997, but divorced in 2010. The couple remarried in 2013. Nene and Gregg's son Brentt, posted on Twitter, encouraging fans to go make memories, for his father. 
NeNe Leakes revealed to a crowd at her the Linnethia Lounge in August, that Gregg was "transitioning" to the other side. Gregg Leakes had previously beaten his stage 3 colon cancer, undergoing surgery. Linnethia is Nene's birth name, and the Linnethia Lounge is in Duluth, Georgia, where Nene and Gregg could often be seen. The Linnethia Lounge opened less than a year ago, opening a restaurant during a pandemic is quite a challenge. Still, The Linnethia Lounge has good reviews from patrons.
The Leakes family spokesperson Ernest Dukes, revealed that Gregg died surrounded by friends and family, at home. Although the news of Gregg Leakes passing is incredibly sad, the fact that he was able to pass at home, surrounded by loved ones, is comforting.
